Alex Anthopoulos leaves Dodgers to be Braves GM | CBC SportsAtlanta Braves probable pitchers and starting lineups vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, May 5

The Braves will hope to avoid a sweep as they face a surging Dodgers team.

The Atlanta Braves suffered a pretty big loss on Saturday as the Dodgers roughed up Bryce Elder and the bullpen. Los Angeles slugged 11 runs on 16 hits to take down Atlanta with an 11-2 final. Tyler Glasnow proved why the Dodgers valued him so highly this offseason with a seven-inning, 10-strikeout performance.

His counterpart, Bryce Elder, could not locate his pitches and lack of movement with his slider hurt him. The Dodgers scored seven runs off Elder including three home runs. He walked four batters while also striking out four during his 3.1 innings of work. That is not an encouraging sign to see from Elder at all.

Atlanta now finds themselves in second place in the NL East, trailing the Phillies by one and a half games. The Braves will head to Dodger Stadium on Sunday afternoon hoping to cut that deficit in the division while avoiding a sweep.Alex Anthopoulos leaves Dodgers to be Braves GM | CBC Sports

Let’s check out the starting lineups and pitchers for tonight’s game.

Probable starting pitchers
James Paxton (3-0, 3.51 ERA) has been okay for the Dodgers rotation and has provided them with a decent lefty arm every fifth day. His most recent start came against the Diamondbacks and he completed five innings allowing four runs on six hits with four strikeouts. However, he did issue five walks in that game and walks have been a huge issue for Paxton. He’s issued 22 walks this season which equates to a rate of 7.7 walks per nine innings.
