Houston Texans Linked With Los Angeles Rams’ $95 Million Star After Epic Playoff Run

The Houston Texans’ future looks bright with CJ Stroud at quarterback and head coach DeMeco Ryans guiding them. Now, as they head to the offseason following a brilliant playoff run, they will look to improve the roster around their young QB in hopes of sustaining their success and building a contender.

One of the Texans’ biggest need heading to the offseason is improving their defense. They finished the 2023 season with an average defensive rating, ranking 14th overall among the 32 teams in the league.

With that being said, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald could be an intriguing option for them. Not only does Donald have Super Bowl experience, but he is also a well-respected veteran who could have a good influence on Stroud’s growth.

Houston Texans Could Target Aaron Donald, Others via Offseason Trade

Donald has been named by the Bleacher Report NFL scouting department as one of the likely trade targets for the Texans, along with New Orleans Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo and Philadelphia Eagles safety Kevin Byard.

The Texans could really use some veteran help on a young team that exceeded expectations in 2023. While they were able to make it all the way to the divisional round with a first-year QB in Stroud, replicating that success will be difficult without some reinforcements. Hence, adding players with plenty of experience should only help elevate them further.

The Texans are in the perfect position to take a big swing on veteran acquisitions. They outperformed expectations this season, and if the retooling Rams are looking to get a return for 32-year-old Aaron Donald, the Texans are one of the teams that could oblige. They are a contender with an abundant amount of salary cap space.

Paulson Adebo is a rising star at cornerback, but the Saints routinely lose good players in free agency because of the way they manage the cap. Adebo is set to become a free agent in 2025. Trading him now could bring them a better return than what they will get in the compensatory pick formula.

The Eagles traded for Kevin Byard in the middle of the season, but it didn’t prevent their late-season collapse. He could be an ideal running mate with Jalen Pitre.

It’s unknown what the Texans will actually do in the offseason and free agency. Nonetheless, plenty of players should be intrigued by what the team can offer, especially with the recent success they had under Ryans.

They are an exciting team with a Super Bowl likely on the horizon if they stay in their current trajectory. That should play to their advantage as they retool in the offseason.
