How Nottingham Forest’s Murillo reacted after being called up to the Brazil squad

Nottingham Forest’s impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign is now being recognised by some of the biggest national teams in the world.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are going into this weekend’s run of fixtures sitting in seventh spot with the opportunity to end the day up in third.

Morgan Gibbs-White has already been called up for England this season following the interim appointment of Lee Carsley.

However, there is now another player adding to Forest’s list of international representatives with Murillo being handed a call-up to the latest Brazil squad.

With the centre-back enjoying a solid run in the Forest side this season alongside Nikola Milenkovic, his celebrations have been captured on his social media channels.

How Nottingham Forest’s Murillo celebrated Brazil call-up

Murillo has now been at Forest for well over a year and has been knocking on the door for an international selection.

Taking to his Instagram account on Friday, Murillo shared a video of him and his partner singing karaoke following his Brazil call-up.

Gibbs-White has congratulated Murillo for his Brazil call-up already over social media with the Forest players clearly delighted for their teammate.

But the Brazilian’s impressive displays are not going unnoticed in the Premier League with Liverpool holding an interest in Murillo ahead of next summer.

However, his wait for that first Forest goal is still ongoing.

Forest hold the Premier League’s second best defensive record

Alongside Milenkovic, Murillo has played a huge role in Forest’s success this season with Forest boasting the second-best defensive record in the league.

It is only Liverpool who have been able to outperform the Reds when it comes to the fewest goals conceded.

Considering Forest ended last season with the sixth-worst record having conceded a whopping 67 goals over the campaign, there are some real signs of improvement.

And the 22-year-old has been a huge part of that turnaround with Ian Wright praising Murillo’s Forest displays this season.
