Bears vs Commanders Injury Updates: Jayden Daniels ‘week to week’

Big game on Sunday between the Bears and Commanders and each head coach gave some injury updates on Monday.

The Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders were flexed to a late afternoon time slot on Sunday for fans to watch rookie sensations Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, but an injury has the matchup in question. Yesterday, Daniels left his game, a 40 to 7 win over the Panthers, with a rib injury, and his status is “week to week,” according to head coach Dan Quinn.

“We’re hopeful he can play,” Quinn said earlier today via ESPN, “but we’ll also make sure to take every precautionary step and do it smartly for the player and the man.”

Daniels is the leader in the Rookie of the Year race with 1,410 yards passing and 372 yards rushing with ten total touchdowns, and it sounds like the Commanders won’t rush him back.

“He’s such a unique player that I want to make sure he can be him fully in his own way and the movements, throwing and all the stuff that would go with that,” Quinn said via ESPN. “I know he’ll do everything he can, but I’ll trust my eyes. We’ll take it every step of the way. It’s really important to get it right, and we will.”

Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus gave some updates on his injured players at today’s press conference. Long snapper Scott Daly (knee) and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson (calf) were both at Monday’s walk-through, and he said Stevenson was “working through some stuff.”

Nickleback Kyler Gordon wasn’t at the walk-through but was “working through” his hamstring that

The week’s first injury report will be out on Wednesday, so we’ll know more then.
