NFL Releases Statement On Josh Allen’s Concussion Protocol
After a red-hot start to the 2024 NFL regular season, with the Buffalo Bills winning three straight games against the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars, Josh Allen and company have lost consecutive games to the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.
Along with suffering two losses to potential Super Bowl contenders, which shows that the Bills have a lot of work to do to contend in the AFC, Buffalo saw Allen go down with what looked like a concussion in the Week 5 loss to the Texans.
Ultimately, Allen wasn’t diagnosed with a concussion and continued to play, which led to a lot of questions about whether the right protocol was used to determine if the quarterback was OK to return to the game.
The NFL and NFLPA reviewed the handling of Allen’s injury, and according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, it was determined that the Bills quarterback didn’t lose consciousness and the proper steps were taken.
With such an emphasis on player safety in the NFL these days, Allen’s potential concussion was obviously a cause for concern, especially considering that some believed he was knocked out on the field.
Fortunately, the Bills and Allen can move forward and focus on their upcoming matchup against Aaron Rodgers and the division-rival New York Jets on “Monday Night Football.”
The Bills and the Jets desperately need to get back on track in Week 6, with both teams coming off consecutive losses and in danger of their seasons spiraling out of control.
