Giants giving away Tom Coughlin bobbleheads, honoring two Super Bowls on SNF
Ahead of the New York Giants’ “Sunday Night Football” game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the organization will honor two-time Super Bowl winning coach Tom Coughlin.
The New York Giants will wrap up the Oct. 13 slate of games on “Sunday Night Football” when they play the Cincinnati Bengals. Prior to kickoff, the organization will honor legendary head coach Tom Coughlin.
Last weekend, the Jacksonville Jaguars honored Coughlin during their pre-game ceremonies. The Jaguars inducted Coughlin into their ring of honor, the Pride of the Jaguars, and played a dedicated video entitled “Forever a Jaguar.”
Coughlin coached the Jaguars from 1994-2002. In those eight seasons, Coughlin took the Jaguars to the playoffs four times and two appearances in the AFC Championship Game (1996-1999). In 1996, Coughlin won the Coach of the Year Award. He later became the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Jags from 2017-2019.
Now it will be the Giants turn to honor their coach. The Giants will continue to celebrate their 100th season by giving fans Coughlin bobbleheads, then at halftime Coughlin will be honored.
The first 25,000 fans at Sunday night’s Bengals-Giants game will receive this Tom Coughlin bobblehead in celebration of the team’s 100th season. The Giants will honor their 2007 and 2011 Super Bowl championships at halftime of Sunday night’s game.
The halftime ceremony will celebrate the Giants’ Super Bowl victories in 2007 and 2011. In Super Bowl XLII, Coughlin’s Giants defeated the near-perfect (16-0) New England Patriots 17-14 due to the “helmet catch” and the MVP-play of Eli Manning. Coughlin defeated Bill Belichick once again in Super Bowl XLVI. This time, the neck-and-neck battle was decided by running back Ahmad Bradshaw who scored a touchdown with 57 seconds left in the game.
Coughlin finished his coaching career with a perfect record in the Super Bowl as well as becoming the 13th winningest coach in NFL history (182-157).
Members of those championship teams will make an appearance as well, like Manning and Michael Strahan.
