Brentford sent ‘trusted men’ to watch Serie A player – West Ham also interested amidst contract speculation

Mile Svilar has grown in prominence at Roma since last season, when Rui Patricio’s poor performances in goal saw Daniele De Rossi give the younger goalkeeper a chance to impress, and is now being linked with Brentford and West Ham.

The Serbia international hasn’t let anyone down, establishing himself firmly between the sticks for the Giallorossi and becoming someone who is quite reliable during vital moments.

De Rossi isn’t manager any longer, but Svilar has been a key figure for Ivan Juric too, despite there being speculation around his own future.

Gazzetta dello Sport today state that Svilar’s performances have attracted attention from England.

Brentford are one club who are keeping a close eye on him and they have already sent some ‘trusted men’ to monitor the goalkeeper.  At the same time, there is also interest from West Ham, even though they have Alphonse Areola in goal.

Barring Brentford and West Ham, Wolves and Bournemouth are also linked to the former Benfica player.

Roma are working to secure the goalkeeper to a new deal, with Gazzetta quite confident that he will sign a contract lasting until 2029. He will also be able to double his current wages.

Roma want to protect Svilar from an ‘external attack’ and are making efforts to make sure that he stays at the club for the long term.
