Jaguars’ Tank Bigsby named NFL Player of the Week nominee
Tank Bigsby has earned his flowers.
Following a 129 total yard and two touchdown afternoon to help propel the Jacksonville Jaguars to their first win of the year, the second-year running back is up for Player of the Week.
Bigsby matched his rookie season scoring output behind two enormous touchdowns, his long going for 65 yards. He finished far and away the game’s leading rusher against the Indianapolis Colts with 101 yards.
Bigsby is one of six nominees for the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week. He joins quarterback Kirk Cousins, quarterback Joe Burrow, quarterback Lamar Jackson, receiver Ja’Marr Chase and receiver Drake London.
The former third-round pick is having one of the best starts to a season by any back in the NFL. He is first in rush yards over expectation per attempt and first in yards per carry. He has a 50% success rate with his runs and is fifth in the league in missed tackles forced per rushing attempt with 18 on just 34 carries this season.
Jaguars fans can vote for Bigsby at nfl.com/voting/air-and-ground/ and @NFL on X (Twitter) or through the league’s app. Voting closes Wednesday at 3 p.m. EST.
In honor of the two weekly winners FedEx, in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, will make donations of $2,000 in the names of the two winning players to Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have life on offense! Doug Pederson’s side clinched their first win of the campaign on Sunday as they held off the Indianapolis Colts in a tense finish, at the heart of their victory being a Trevor Lawrence clinic and another big day for running back Tank Bigsby. The 2023 third-round pick lit up the Colts’ shoddy run defense with 13 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns to follow up his seven carries for 90 yards against the Houston Texans.
