Pundit reveals what must happen for Leeds to consider sacking manager Daniel Farke
Leeds United have struggled against promotional rivals this season with draws against Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion, and Sunderland. Moreover, the Whites lost to Burnley, so it’s been an issue getting wins over sides vying for the top two automatic promotion spots.
The Yorkshire side heads into the international break in fifth place in the Championship, having won four of their first nine matches, drawn four, and lost one.
Leeds last enjoyed a three-match winning streak in the league back in March. Since then, they’ve managed to win only seven out of 20 matches, which is simply not good enough.
Farke is still the right person for the job, and there’s no reason why Leeds can’t embark on another strong run when club action resumes. However, if they continue to draw and lose, the situation could change dramatically.
What must happen for Daniel Farke to be sacked?
The Whites have to find consistency after this latest FIFA international window. Farke and his team will have another crack at defeating a promotional rival when they welcome Sheffield United to Elland Road on October 18.
A draw or a loss could begin the rumbles over whether Farke’s coaching seat should be getting hot if he fails to secure a victory over a team that’s a contender for one of the two automatic promotion spots.
Pundit Don Goodman believes Leeds management will only consider sacking Farke if the team experiences a results slump similar to what it faced at the end of last season.
“The Leeds hierarchy won’t be panicking unless there’s a massive drop-off, like we saw in the final eight games or so of last season when they missed out on automatic promotion,” Goodman told MOT Leeds News.
“The levels fell off, the tightness defensively disappeared and they weren’t always the better team in games they didn’t get maximum points in. Only if that happens again will the Leeds hierarchy maybe question Daniel’s presence. But I just don’t see a run like that happening.”
It will be interesting to see if Leeds can get a win over the Blades and calm the situation down significantly after the surprise ending in the draw against Sunderland.
