Philadelphia Eagles release veteran WR DeSean JacksonVikings Sign Robert Tonyan to Active Roster, Release Myles Gaskin

The Vikings have just announced that they’ve brought Gaskin back to the practice squad. They could elevate him for Sunday’s game, which would be his third elevation, which would leave the team with a decision to make.

Before heading off to London for this weekend’s NFL International Series game against the New York Jets, the Minnesota Vikings made a change to their active roster.

The team has announced that they have signed tight end Robert Tonyan from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. In order to make room for him, the team released running back Myles Gaskin.

Tonyan had been elevated from the practice squad for each of the last two games to give the Vikings a third tight end following Nick Muse’s hand injury. In those two games, he’s played 10 snaps on offense and just under half of the team’s special teams plays. He’s likely going to stay on the active roster until T.J. Hockenson is officially ready to come back, after which time the team can make a decision on him.

Gaskin had been elevated for the first two games of the season before being signed to the main roster. He had played just two snaps on offense over the first four weeks but was serving as the team’s primary kickoff returner. He only got an opportunity to return three kickoffs, averaging 20 yards/return.

If the Vikings want to have a third running back available behind Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler, they still have Zavier Scott on their practice squad. They could also re-sign Gaskin to the practice squad, though he only has one standard elevation remaining for the season.

The Vikings aren’t likely to make any more roster moves before this weekend’s game unless it involves elevating players from the practice squad. If they do make any moves, however, we will bring them to you here straight away.
