Roberto Carlos reacts to Jobe Bellingham strike for Sunderland against Derby County
Former Brazil and Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos was impressed by Jobe Bellingham and his recent goal for Sunderland.
Sunderland got back to winning ways in midweek, beating Derby County 2-0 at the Stadium of Light and returning to the top of the Championship table in the process.
Regis Le Bris’ side have now won six of their opening eight Championship games this season and look in good stead to challenge for promotion.
The Derby win also saw Jobe Bellingham open his account for the season, doing so in some style.
The 19-year-old scored seven goals in the Championship last season. He’s played well this time round but hadn’t managed to get himself on the scoresheet.
Then, 25 yards from goal against Derby County, Bellingham pinged one in the top left corner, with Jude Bellingham impressed by the goal.
Now, another Galactico has reacted to the goal; three-time Champions League-winner and one-time World Cup-winner Roberto Carlos.

Carlos, now 51, was best-known for his time with Real Madrid, for whom he made more than 500 total appearances during an 11-year spell.
He played alongside some of the best names in football winning some of the biggest trophies on multiple occasions.
As a player, he was well-regarded for his striking ability. Carlos could hit the ball harder than any player at the time, scoring that infamous free-kick against France in 1997.
Bellingham’s goal obviously popped up on Carlos’ Instagram timeline, and he took the time to watch and reply with some clapping emojis.
Sunderland also responded:
Sunderland could produce a couple of Galacticos in the next few years
Jobe’s older brother Jude is already a Galactico, with Real Madrid rapidly becoming the ‘place to be’ for the world’s top footballers once again.
Already this season, Chris Rigg has been linked with Real Madrid, and if he continues his fine form then he’ll no doubt end up at the top one day.
Bellingham has also had links to the Premier League in the past. He goes from strength to strength and if he can add more goals to his game, and spectacular ones like his one against Derby, then the sky is his limit.
Sunderland continue to produce and develop top young footballers, and it’s certainly a great sign for future years to come on Wearside.
