Hull City new boy Charlie Hughes shares surgery update following move from Wigan Athletic

Hull City new boy Charlie Hughes has said his surgery ‘went well’ after missing their clash against Sheffield United last Friday with an appendix issue.

Hull City landed the centre-back last month from Wigan Athletic. However, he is yet to feature for his new club.

Hughes, 20, penned a four-year deal with the Championship and is having to wait for his debut. It remains to be seen at this stage when he could potentially make his first appearance in black and amber.

It has been a tough start to the season for the Tigers and they were beaten 2-0 by Sheffield United at home last time out. They are yet to win under Tim Walter and have three points on the board from their first five games.

Hull City update

Hull City signed Hughes as one for the future and he is someone who they will be looking to integrate into their starting XI as soon as they can.

The England youth international is being tipped for a bright future in the game and will battle it out with the likes of Alfie Jones, Sean McLoughlin, Finley Burns and Andy Smith for a place in the Tigers’ starting XI when he is available to play

After signing for the East Yorkshire outfit, he told their website: “I’m delighted. It’s great to be here and I’m really excited to get going. It’s a great feeling. I was at Wigan for a long period of time, which I loved, but now I’m really looking forward to being back in the Championship. I’m ready to push on now and I can’t wait to get started and develop.

“The manager was keen to bring me in and his style of play, how the back four rotate and trust themselves on the ball, that’s my game. I’m looking forward to having that trust and belief to go out and show the manager, the fans and the club my ability on the ball. I’m excited for the challenge and I can’t wait to put the shirt on and go and perform.”
