George Pickens was in no mood to answer questions about his fumble in Indy
It’s onto Dallas for George Pickens.
On Sunday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Steelers were dealt their first loss of the season when they traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium. An old foe made an unexpected appearance against the black and yellow as former NFC North rival and Baltimore Ravens signal caller, Joe Flacco led the Indianapolis Colts to the surprising victory over the Steelers after 2023 fifth-overall pick and starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson went down with an oblique injury in the first quarter.
Down 17-0, the Steelers’ offense was finally clicking to close the first quarter. Justin Fields led Pittsburgh from their own 15-yard line down to the red-zone, where he connected with the aforementioned Pickens, who fumbled inside the Colts’ 10-yard line, and after the pile cleared, it was Indianapolis safety, Julian Blackmon who came up with the ball.
On Wednesday afternoon, Pickens finally spoke with the media, but was still not willing to delve into the fumble, noting that he’s moving onto the Dallas Cowboys ahead of Sunday night’s showdown.
“Just thinking about Dallas this week,” Pickens told reporters when asked about his Week 4 fumble woes.
Pickens would eventually give the slightest insight on what he can do to improve following this past Sunday’s loss.
“Every game comes with challenges,” Pickens admitted. “A fumble like that, you just wanna do ball security, I think every team coaches that around the league.”
WR George Pickens, who declined interview requests in Indianapolis, repeated “just think about Dallas this week” several times when asked about his first-half fumble in Indy. Asked how he can avoid a similar play against Dallas, he added that he can practice ball security.
When it comes to fixing the fumbling issues, Pickens and the rest of the Steelers took part in a ball security specific drill during Wednesday’s practice session.
