Gardner Minshew beats out Aidan O'Connell for Raiders starting quarterback job

Commanders Signed 2 Players On Tuesday

After a forgettable 2023 NFL season, the Washington Commanders were hoping to get a significant boost in the right direction, with the team selecting reigning Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Although Daniels raised some questions, especially about his size and durability, the Commanders felt he was the right player to bring in as the new starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, with former USC star Caleb Williams off the board at No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears.

Despite a season-opening loss to Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road at Raymond James Stadium, the Commanders were able to bounce back with a vengeance the following week with a win over the division-rival New York Giants.

Daniels and company were able to keep that momentum going for the last two weeks after taking down the Giants as they beat the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals, resulting in an impressive 3-1 record to start the season.

Although everything seems to be heading in the right direction for Washington, the team made some moves this week by signing guard Marquis Hayes and safety Sheldrick Redwine to their practice squad, according to the franchise’s X account

The win over the Cardinals on the road at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, was perhaps the team’s most impressive win yet, with Daniels throwing an interception but putting on a show with a touchdown through the air and on the ground en route to a season-high 42 points.

Even though it is early in the season, the Commanders are showing a lot of promise as a team that might be able to become a force to be reckoned with in the NFC sooner rather than later

The former Washington Commanders pass rusher signed with NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys.

The Washington Commanders’ NFC South rival, the Dallas Cowboys, is being hit with the injury bug. Their defensive end position is seeing injuries to Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence — two highly productive pass rushers.

In light of the injuries, the Cowboys signed former Commanders pass rusher KJ Henry to their active roster on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The former Washington player was previously on the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad, waiting for a call-up.

Henry was a fifth-round pick by the Commanders in the 2023 NFL Draft and now lands on an active roster after appearing in two games for Cincinnati this season. The Clemson product started three games in ten appearances for the Commanders in 2023, tallying 1.5 sacks.

“The former Clemson standout brings a mix of youth and experience to the mix, having played in 10 games during his first two NFL seasons (3 starts), finishing the 2023 season with 19 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, two pass break ups and 1.5 sacks. An All-ACC talent for the Tigers, Henry is looking to establish himself at the professional level and could get an opportunity to begin doing so for the Cowboys as early as Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers,” the Dallas Cowboys wrote in a release.
