Cowboys Trade for Jets’ Haason Reddick? ESPN Report ‘Misleading,’ Explains Insider
SEPT 30 MISLEADING ESPN has offered up a “misleading” trade report? There’s a shocker. The Dallas Cowboys have injury issues at the pass-rusher spot – times two as they have now lost their two of their most important defensive pieces in Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. … at least for a time. Enter the gossipy Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, who mentioned the possibility of Dallas acquiring Haason Reddick … in a way CowboysCountry.com has explained is “misleading.” Fowler says Reddick is too expensive. That’s not entirely true. Fowler’s suggestion that Dallas “can’t” do this is wrong. The Cowboys “can.” They will, however, “choose” not to because their grand plan is to “keep their (cap-space) powder dry” for 2025. And without that
info, the connection ESPN is making here is a bogus one. SEPT 29 TENNIS, ANYONE? The Denver Broncos are trying to get ready for today’s meeting in New York when they play the Jets … after having spent part of their time practcing on a tennis court. Due to Hurricane Helene, the Broncos had to practice on indoor tennis courts in West Virginia. Why are they on the East Coast? Coach Sean Payton opted to keep his guys on this side of the country whole coming off a Week 3 win at Tampa Bay. Hurricane Helene has been called a Category 4 storm as it did tremendous damage to parts of the country. The 1-2 Broncos, meanwhile, will face a stout test Sunday when they travel to MetLife Stadium to take on Aaron Rodgers and the 2-1 Jets. SEPT 24 THE PACE Can the New York Jets keep pace with the long-established best team in the AFC East? The Buffalo Bills served up a dominant performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars on
Monday night, ripping through the Jags on the way to a 47-10 victory behind an explosive first-half aerial assault led by quarterback Josh Allen. The Bills scored on each and every possession in the first half, with Allen throwing four touchdown passes and racking up 247 passing yards by halftime. He ended up with 263 yards in the air, but also notable as Buffalo has moved to 3-0: Allen is now responsible for nine TDs (two rushing) through three games. Can the 2-1 Jets keep up? That figures to be a season-long question in the AFC East. SEPT 22 RIP MERCURY MORRIS One of the most electric players in Miami Dolphins history died on Saturday night. Mercury Morris, a three-time Pro Bowler, a star on Miami’s unbeaten 1972 team and a frequent tormentor of the Jets and other AFC East foes, was 77 years old. Morris led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 1972, and in 1973, he led the league in yards per carry in 1973. The legendary Dolphins star finished his career with 4,133 yards and 31 touchdowns from scrimmage. SEPT 20 ANNOYING? If you are a fan of the New York Jets – especially today, following their Thursday night win over the Pats – there is nothing about Aaron Rodgers that you find to be “annoying.”
But survey says … others see it differently. Who’s the most annoying player in the NFL? A pair of Chiefs make the list. That would be Patrick Mahomes (the audience has tired of his success?) and Travis Kelce (Swiftie Burnout?). But in a recent fan survey by The Action Network, the big “winner” is Rodgers, the four-time MVP who some find to be “controversial,” but who right now, in New York, is anything but “annoying.” SEPT 20 WHY, ADAMS? Chances are, Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams’ Twitter post on Thursday night while his old buddy Aaron Rodgers was playing on national TV, leading the Jets to an easy win over the Patriots in innocuous. At the same, the six-time Pro Bowler Adams knows exactly what he’s doing. Cryptic. Cute. Whatever. Amid rumors that the 31-year-old Adams is unhappy with the Raiders, he shared on Instagram Story a picture of himself holding a helmet. He added a one-word caption: “Maybe.” “Maybe.” Maybe what? The timing of the post naturally caused some viewers to assume it’s Jets-related. … which means Adams knows exactly what he’s doing. Cryptic. Cute. SEPT 18 AARON’S HEAD New York QB Aaron Rodgers is going to hate this. Rodgers is 40 years old. It’s no secret that at some point, retirement will be considered and will come. At the same
time, Rodgers won’t be hurried by outsiders – and yet “outsiders” will continue to come as well. Enter Dan Graziano of ESPN, who thinks he’s got some sort of insight here. “Rodgers could decide to retire after this season or could decide to come back and play in 2025,” Graziano said. “A lot of that decision could come down to how the rest of this season goes, and the same can be said about the future plan.” What ESPN just gave you, Jets fans, is “The Sound and the Fury.” Rodgers might retire. Or he might not. Depending. Really? No kidding, Sherlock. SEPT 14 POST-NY MOVE As has been rumored, the 49ers on Saturday officially are placing All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve due to his calf tightness and Achilles tendinitis.
