Alabama's Jalen Milroe announces return for senior year | Fox News

Browns Predicted to Replace Deshaun Watson With Alabama Star QB who initially was his intention as ” Dream Team”

The Cleveland Browns are facing a quarterback dilemma, and after this season, they could look to replace Deshaun Watson with one of college football’s top talents. The Browns made a blockbuster move to land Watson in 2022, sending a treasure trove of assets (including three first-round picks) to the Houston Texans to land the Pro Bowl passer.

So far, Watson has not lived up to expectations. He’s played in just 14 games since the trade due to a suspension and injuries. Watson’s play in those games has been uneven, at best. Watson has passed for 2,572 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in a Browns’ uniform. Watson had a miserable Week 1 showing but took a slight step forward on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Watson passed for 186 yards and ran in a touchdown. The Browns could turn to the draft to find a replacement for Watson, and Bleacher Report has highlighted Texas star Quinn Ewers as an option.

“Unless Deshaun Watson shows exponential improvement in the coming weeks, it’s hard to envision the Browns guaranteeing him the starting job for next year. Cutting him might not be an option thanks to a fully guaranteed contract that would create massive dead cap charges, but drafting another option and simply starting the rookie would be a way forward,” B/R’s Scouting Department wrote. “Quinn Ewers figures to be one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s class. The Texas signal-caller has shown improvement every year he has started and is leading an explosive Longhorns offense toward a playoff bid early in the season.” Ewers suffered an oblique injury in Saturday’s game against UTSA, which may cause him to miss some time. However, with his extensive college experience and potential, he’s still on the radar as a Heisman contender and a possible draft target for the Browns, who could see him as a future cornerstone for their offense.

Cleveland fans had an audible called on them this season when longtime play-by-play broadcaster Jim Donovan announced his surprise retirement as he is unfortunately again battling cancer.

After Donovan’s announcement, the team called Andrew Siciliano into action as the veteran broadcaster had filled in for Donovan previously for multiple games last season.

Siciliano is using his voice for more than just calling the games, however.

On “The Really Big Show” this week, Siciliano joined as a guest to give his thoughts on quarterback Deshaun Watson’s play in the Week 2 victory over the Jaguars.

ESPN Cleveland’s X account shared the encounter as Siciliano gave high marks to Watson’s early effort.

“I thought he did exactly what he had to do in the first half, and he moved the team down the field,” Siciliano said.
