Celine Dion ‘set for huge comeback at Eurovision’ as boss teases ‘suspense’ after health woes
Legendary singer Celine Dion has been teased to be part of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
On the back of her electric performance at this year’s Paris Olympics, the 56-year-old singer is reportedly set to take part in the globally renowned event, despite her struggle with Stiff Person Syndrome. Celine, first made a name for herself in 1998, competing in the singing competition in Switzerland.
Moritz Stadler, the Executive Co-Producer of Eurovision 2025, spoke to the Eurovis-Huns podcast – and refused to deny Celin’s involvement. He said: “We’re building up a great show. And you are right, Celine Dion is a legend!” In a bid to tease further, he added: “I’m not going to tell you right now. I’m sure you understand because you guys need to have a bit of suspense between now and next May.”
Celine set the world on fire when she performed at the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Especially, as this came after she battled with Stiff Person’s Syndrome. This was the first time she had performed in front of a crowd after her diagnosis. At the time, she belted out the Edith Piaf song L’Hymne à l’amour in the Eiffel Tower just after the lighting of the torch.
Moritz added: “There are slots throughout the year where you will discover a lot of amazing things.” Stiff Person Syndrome is a condition that makes the muscles in the body stiffen and cause spasms. Informing her fans of her condition, Celine said: “Hello everyone, I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reach out to you. I miss you all so much and can’t wait to be on stage talking to you in person,” Celine said as she sat in a chair in her home.”
She added: “I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and it’s been really difficult for me to face my challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through. Recently I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called the stiff person syndrome which affects one in a million people.”
The global star continued: “All I know is singing, it’s what I’ve done all my life, and it’s what I love to do the most. Celine is planning to organise a string of performances over the next few years, following her hugely successful appearance at the Paris Olympics.
A source close to the star told In Touch magazine: “She’s determined to keep proving everyone wrong by performing again. The success of this has only made her even more hungry to perform again. She’s working on plans for her next performance.”
They added: “It doesn’t mean she’s out of the woods or over this horrible disease, there’s still a long road ahead. She will need to keep fighting every day towards her healing, but she’s not giving up and intends to keep fighting and setting a positive example for her fans and for anyone battling this disease.”
