‘Didn’t Feel Great!’ Browns’ Myles Garrett Battled Through Injury in Win Over Jaguars which resulted in a devastating…
Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett demonstrated both grit and determination in Week 2, playing through a painful foot injury to help the Browns secure an 18-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Garrett, who appeared on the injury report after missing Thursday’s practice and participating on a limited basis Friday, confirmed that the injury was not related to the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Despite dealing with the discomfort, Garrett suited up and took the field, delivering a performance that was pivotal in holding off the Jaguars.
After the game, Garrett openly acknowledged his struggle, stating, “Didn’t feel great,” but his performance was anything but hindered. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year recorded his second sack of the season, forcing a fumble by stripping the ball from Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s hands, a play that helped stymie a key Jacksonville drive. Garrett’s defensive play was instrumental for the Browns, who logged four sacks against the Jaguars and have now accumulated six on the season. Despite logging just 41 snaps – slightly down from his 45 in Week 1 against Dallas – Garrett’s presence was felt throughout the contest. His ability to disrupt Jacksonville’s offense underlined his value, even while playing at less than full strength.
On the season, Garrett has amassed five tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles, showcasing his continued dominance on the defensive line. Cleveland’s defense, led by Garrett’s relentless pursuit, managed to hold the Jaguars to just 13 points, proving their ability to step up in crucial moments.
Looking ahead, the Browns will rely on Garrett’s leadership and tenacity as they prepare for their Week 3 matchup against the New York Giants.
With the Giants entering the game at 0-2, Cleveland will look to capitalize on their defensive momentum, while Garrett aims to build on his early-season performances despite the lingering effects of his injury.
The Jacksonville Jaguars fell to the Miami Dolphins in the season opener and aren’t faring much better against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2. The fact that they continue to lose players to injuries doesn’t help matters.
Just ahead of halftime, the safety Andre Cisco left the game with a groin injury and is questionable to return. Fortunately, he was able to get back for the second half.
Before that, running back Tank Bigsby suffered a shoulder injury during a kickoff return and was also labeled questionable to return.
If that wasn’t enough, tight end Evan Engram suffered a freak injury during warm-ups and was ruled out for the bout.
Already, Jacksonville was without defensive back Darnell Savage, and losing players to injuries won’t help one bit. After two quarters, the Jags had amassed a paltry 81 yards on four drives. They were able to drive down the field in the second quarter but the offense stalled and had to settle for a field goal.
The Browns, on the other hand, have been able to move the ball despite the fact that they’re also dealing with several injuries of their own. Left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. and right tackle Jack Conklin were inactives for the game. Then, Cleveland lost backup tackle Dawand Jones to injury. Still, they have 195 total yards on offense and are leading 13-3 by halftime.
