Colts' Anthony Richardson surprises Speedway High School players with donation of football helmets

Colts QB Anthony Richardson provides eye-popping comment about his trajectory which caused unbelievable…….

Indianapolis Colts second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson insists the NFL better watch out if he reaches his potential.

“It’s like I talked about with Tom Brady,” Richardson told The Athletic’s James Boyd. “He’s a freakin’ genius when it comes to football, and he made all the throws, not just the exciting ones. I want to continue adding that to my game to go with the physical tools and everything else. Because if I put together, man … the world can’t stop me.”

Richardson’s talent is apparent. In a 29-27 Week 1 home loss to the Houston Texans, the 6-foot-4, 244-pounder threw a 60-yard touchdown to wide receiver Alec Pierce in the first quarter.

According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the pass traveled 65.3 yards in the air, the third-longest completion the database has recorded since its founding in 2017.

“Obviously, that opening touchdown pass to Alec, I don’t think I’ve seen a throw like that,” Colts head coach Shane Steichen said in a postgame news conference. “That’s just physical ability, launching that ball down the field. There’s not many guys that can do that.”

Richardson appreciates compliments about his athleticism but wants to be known as an elite QB.

“I know I’m physically gifted. Everybody knows that,” Richardson said. “But playing football, especially as a quarterback, is way deeper than just being physical and just being fast.”

To achieve his goals, Richardson must become a more precise passer. During his rookie season in 2023, the former No. 4 overall pick completed 59.5% of his passes in four games. Against the Texans, he went 9-of-19 passing for 212 yards, two TDs and one interception.

If he starts solving his accuracy issues, imagine what he could do for the rest of the season. Keep an eye on Richardson’s progress in a Week 2 road game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Green Bay Packers season kicked off in Sao Paolo Brazil versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The highly anticipated matchup went in the Eagles’ direction in the end, despite a three-turnover performance by the Packers’ defense.

The roster appeared primed to go back to Lambeau ready to get their first win of the season. Unfortunately, those plans were altered by an unfortunate MCL sprain that occurred to starting quarterback Jordan Love before the final play of the game. Heading into their matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, there will be a few players Packers fans should be keeping an eye on.
