Player says he made ‘huge effort’ to leave Wolves this summer – Fell in love with transfer idea
On summer transfer deadline day, Wolverhampton Wanderers allowed Fábio Silva to join UD Las Palmas on a loan deal.
The 22-year-old has spoken to the media local to the La Liga side during his presentation and his comments are relayed by La Provincia.
Silva had to wait until the end of the window to leave Wolves on a temporary deal. He had his heart set on joining the Spanish club, who first made an approach a few months ago.
The striker hasn’t explained why it took him so long to arrive at Las Palmas. However, he has revealed he made a big effort to leave the Premier League side in the summer window.
“I loved the idea of coming to this league. I really like the language, and I made a huge effort to be here,” he said.
“I already knew that many young players have left the club and it’s the right scenario (…). But I am very happy because it closes a circle. Las Palmas were the first team that spoke to me in May and in the end the one I ended up with. It was my first love.”
La Provincia state the Wolves owned player hasn’t talked about the figures involved in the loan deal.
The Portuguese attacker has stated a conversation with Las Palmas manager Luis Carrión played a key role in his decision to join them. Silva says he’s ready to play anywhere in the front three for the Spanish club.
“I spoke with him, he seemed like a very good person, with game ideas that are perfect for me. The important thing is to start training and see what he expects from me and what I can do for the team. Now I am more complete, I can play as a reference nine as well as on the wings,” Silva explained.
Gary O’Neil’s side haven’t mentioned if Las Palmas have an option or obligation to make his stay permanent.
