Tuesdays are generally an off day for the league’s players, but that’s when coaches and scouts are putting free agents through workouts at their facilities. Earlier today, the Chicago Bears had eight players at Halas Hall, according to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs. Those players were wide receivers Kearis Jackson, Cornelius Johnson, Jordan Kerley, and David Wallis; tight ends Armani Rogers and Joel Wilson; quarterback Gavin Hardison; and cornerback Damarion Williams.

The Bears didn’t make a roster move today, but these early-season workouts often allow them to compile options for when a player is needed down the road.

Our Lead Draft Analyst, Jacob Infante, is intrigued by Johnson (6’3″, 208 pounds), who was a seventh-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers this year. Jacob called the former Michigan Wolverine a “big-bodied weapon with a large catch radius,” who is “physical at the catch point.” At the NFL Combine he ran a 4.44 forty with a vertical jump of 37.5″.

The practice squad always receives a healthy churn during the season, and the more players the Bears meet with and work out, the more comfortable they are with the options.

However, one quarterback was among them — Gavin Hardison, most recently of UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso). “#Bears worked out Gavin Hardison, Kearis Jackson, Cornelius Johnson, Jordan Kerley, Armani Rogers, David Wallis, Damarion Williams [and] Joel Wilson,” Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston reported via a post to X.

Hardison is a 24-year-old undrafted free agent rookie who played 37 games across five seasons with the Miners in Conference USA. He produced 7,962 passing yards, 40 TDs and 33 INTs over that span.
