Why Victor Moses was recently at Crystal Palace before sealing Luton Town move

Victor Moses – a player Crystal Palace fans know very well – has now sealed a return to English football.

The Nigeria international – who emerged from the Crystal Palace academy back in 2007 – left these shores for Spartak Moscow back in 2021 after a successful stint at Chelsea, where he won the Premier League in 2017.

Now, Victor Moses is back in England after sealing a shock move to Luton Town – but the man born in Kaduna was actually at Crystal Palace for a bit before joining the Hatters…

Why Victor Moses was back at Crystal Palace

Edmund Brack of the South London Press has now revealed that the 33-year-old spent time training with Crystal Palace in recent weeks to maintain his fitness, ahead of his next move.

It seems to have done the trick, as Rob Edwards revealed in Luton Town’s official announcement that Moses is fit and ready to play.

Coincidentally, the Crystal Palace cult hero’s first game for the Hatters could actually come against our south London rivals Millwall on Saturday.

Whenever Moses makes his Luton Town debut, it is great to see him back in England – hopefully, he can shine under Edwards and drag the Hatters back into the Premier League.

Nigeria international has a case for most successful academy graduate

Despite the incredible careers of players like Nathaniel Clyne, Wilfried Zaha, Gareth Southgate and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who said Selhurst Park is his favourite ground, Moses could well be the most successful Crystal Palace academy graduate.

The new Luton Town No.7 is a Premier League champion – as aforesaid – while he is also an Africa Cup of Nations winner, lifting the prestigious trophy back in 2013.

Moses was even named Player of the Tournament after scoring two goals and providing two assists in five appearances, with one of those assists coming against Burkina Faso in the final.

Unfortunately, Moses had to be sold to Wigan Athletic in January 2010 for just £2.5m after Crystal Palace entered administration – peanuts for a talent of his quality.

With two UEFA Europa League titles and one FA Cup to his name as well, the Nigerian is undoubtedly our most successful academy graduate.
