Glasner on Palace's attacking focus pre-Bournemouth - News - Crystal Palace F.C.

Oliver Glasner already has Jordan Ayew replacement, he’s on fire for Crystal Palace amid transfer link

Crystal Palace have a potentially top-tier talent in the youth ranks, he’s now pushing for a debut.

Crystal Palace’s summer transfer window is concluded and there have been some gaps left on the squad which could end up being filled by youth talent.

Jordan Ayew is one player who was never replaced, following his switch to Leicester City in August.

But for Oliver Glasner, there is a talented wonderkid breaking through the ranks for the Eagles and England who could be ready for a breakthrough.

Jesse Derry is on fire for Crystal Palace and England
Within the academy ranks at Selhurst Park, there are some really solid talents within the side such as Franco Umeh.

However, after Crystal Palace lost Samuel Lusale to Manchester United, there is just one talent who could be ready for a move up to senior football.

Jesse Derry is widely viewed as being the best talent in the ranks at Copers Cope and it is little surprise as he consistently proves it.

The 17-year-old has scored five goals in just three U18 Premier League games so far this season which has him in immaculate form for the Eagles U18s.

This is a continuation of the impressive form he showed last season with six goals and three assists in seven games.

His form has even rolled over to international duty, with Derry converting for England during a 2-2 draw with Portugal U18 on Wednesday.

Derry is fast becoming one of England’s standout players at this level, and this is something which would have many of the Premier League elites vying for his signature.

With Derry yet to have signed a professional contract at Crystal Palace, that should really be priority number one for the Eagles this season.

Glasner saw Ayew depart to Leicester City during the summer, and yet there was no right-sided attacker added to the ranks at Selhurst Park.

Links were made with Rayan Cherki from Lyon before he signed a new contract.

But if it comes to Glasner needing an addition in this position, he should look no further than Derry for the step-up.

Derry has the ability to be an instant hit and at the very least exposure to senior football would benefit his development.

We don’t think he needs to be starting, but to see cameos and minutes here and there would be excellent.

After a stunning end to the 2023/24 campaign – which involved eight wins from our last ten games – Oliver Glasner faced widespread interest in his best players at Selhurst Park.
