Uli Hoeness blasts Mesut Ozil for Erdogan picture and quitting Germany: 'he last won a tackle before the 2014 World Cup' | South China Morning Post

Leicester City rival Manchester United to sign free agent Mesut Ozil with deal set to confirmed following…

Leicester City had a productive summer transfer window but their squad still needs improving.

All told, the Foxes spent around £86m to bring nine new players to the King Power Stadium over the summer.

Several of those stars have already shown they can be key figures for Steve Cooper as he aims to keep the Midlands outfit out of the bottom three.

Facundo Buonanotte wowed Leicester City fans after his debut for the club in their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on the opening game week of 2024/25.

And after arriving from Crystal Palace last month, Cooper is expecting Jordan Ayew to be important for the Foxes.

On the whole, Leicester fans are probably fairly happy with what the club have done over the last couple of months.

However, as they have lost two and drawn one of their opening Premier League fixtures, most will agree that there is still room for improvement at the King Power.

Leicester City must rival Manchester United for Yusuf Yazici
One thing the newly-promoted outfit have struggled with this season so far is creating goals.

Leicester rank 19th in the Premier League for shot-creating actions after three games of the campaign.

Only Ipswich Town have managed fewer total shot-creating actions (34) and SCA per 90 (11.33) than the Foxes’ 44 shot-creating actions and 14.67 SCA per 90.

One player who could improve that quite major issue for Cooper is Yusuf Yazici.

The 27-year-old most recently plied his trade in Ligue 1 with LOSC Lille but has been a free agent since July.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the attacking midfielder, as per Football Insider, but Leicester should now try and sign him.

Yazici joined Lille in 2019 and went on to score 29 and assist 15 in 129 outings across all competitions.

Prior to that, the Turkish star was playing in his home country with his boyhood club, Trabzonspor.

He featured over 100 times for the club and was heavily praised by then Arsenal star Mesut Ozil in 2018, who called him ‘amazing’, as per the Daily Mail.

The German said: “I really like Trabzonspor duo Yusuf Yazici and Abdulkadir Omur, they are incredible talents.

“Yusuf Yazici is an amazing No 10. We have a lot of similarities and I myself in him. His left foot, his position, his close passing and calmness on the ball.

“We will see Yusuf at a big European club in the near future.”

That future could well lie with Leicester as Ozil’s comments highlight how the midfielder is exactly the type of player Cooper needs to get his side creating more chances.
