West Brom EFL squad list revealed as space left open for free agent with Cooper set to join the Baggies
West Brom’s 24-man squad has been confirmed, with the EFL making all 72 clubs’ lists available to the public.
According to the information provided by the EFL, the Baggies have named 24 senior players out of a possible 25, and that means they are able to sign a free agent. The summer transfer window is now shut, and clubs won’t be able to do any business such as signings for money, or loans beyond a three-month period until January.
Players let go from their contracts before Friday, August 30, are available to any club in the EFL that has a spare slot. The most notable of free agents available are the likes of Liam Cooper, John Fleck, and Ciaran Clark who left Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City this summer. Erik Pieters and Adam Reach who left the Hawthorns in the summer are still without a club,
West Brom dipped their toes in to the free agent market last season when they signed Yann M’Vila on a short-term deal. This summer, Devante Cole was signed for free along with Joe Wildsmith, and they were named.
Clubs must have at least eight ‘homegrown players’ and West Brom have more than met that. Eighteen out of the 24 players named are regarded as home grown, with only Ousmane Diakite, Daryl Dike, Gianluca Frabotta, Torbjorn Heggem, Mikey Johnston and Uros Racic not regarded as homegrown.
