Galatasaray make move to sign Boubakary Soumare after agreement was finally reached as the wait for international break

Galatasaray have registered their interest in signing Leicester City’s Boubakary Soumare, sources have told Football Insider.

The Turkish giants are searching for a loan deal to bring the defensive midfielder on board this season.

The Turkish window is open until 13 September, giving Galatasaray time to negotiate any potential deal.

The midfielder has been at the King Power Stadium since 2021 but spent last season on loan at Sevilla.

The Frenchman was a regular for the Spanish outfit during the 2023-24 campaign, having made 34 appearances.

Soumare is under contract at Leicester until 2026, putting them in a strong negotiating position.

Game time has been limited since his return to the King Power Stadium, having only featured for 11 minutes off the bench in the first game of the season.

Soumare has made 60 appearances throughout his time with the Foxes but has slipped down the pecking order.

Galatasaray have made an undefeated start to the new campaign, winning all three of their Super Lig games so far.

The Turkish giants are next in action on 15 September, and Soumare could be in the squad by that point if a deal is secured.

Leicester were seen as a chaser in the hunt for Steven Bergwijn, and we all loved the idea of having him in the team, but the rumour never became more than a rumour as the Dutch international made his move, deciding to snub Premier League and instead joining Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

Dennis Praet is still without a club after leaving Leicester after last season, supposed to make a move back to Anderlecht, but still without a club as also Italian teams have shown interest, strangely nothing settled yet.

Matty James was reported back at Leicester, training with the development squad as he prepared for his next move in football, being released from Bristol City after the season. The 33 year old midfielder has been linked with a move to Coventry, a club he knows well after spending time on loan with The Sky Blues in 2021, playing 23 league games and scoring 3 goals.

Steven Bergwijn will no longer feature in the Dutch national team under coach Ronald Koeman’s selections as he believe this move does not trigger the challenge of playing at the highest level, snubbing Premier League possibilities and instead move for money.
