Filip Kostić - Player profile 24/25 | Transfermarkt

Offers from Southampton was rejected as Crystal Palace deal agreed as ‘second tier PL clubs’

Filip Kostic has been on the exit ramp at Juventus all summer. Thiago Motta doesn’t see a future for him with the Turin club, and the player has been informed he can find a new destination.

The 31-year-old, who can play left-back or further forward, hasn’t been involved at all this season. There is no way he can be given a clearer message that his future should be elsewhere.

Over the summer, Southampton and Crystal Palace were both repeatedly credited with interest in Kostic, the latter especially so given the player has previously worked with Oliver Glasner to great impact.

Il Bianconero now report Southampton and Crystal Palace both made offers for the player. That would likely be offers to Kostic and his camp, as Juventus have been prepared to accept a low fee.

The pair are dismissed as ‘second tier Premier League clubs’, and were apparently rejected along with Spartak Moscow. That’s a bit of a needless blow.

Kostic would have been fortunate with a move to Southampton, whilst a transfer to Crystal Palace would surely have been attractive.

“But I started talking to him, we became friends and hit it off. And we have taken that relationship onto the pitch too which is good for Japan. He has been in excellent form too.”

Daizen Maeda’s legend is growing with every game within the Celtic fraternity and another barnstorming derby performance and win over Rangers has only increased fan love for the forward. He is now with the Japanese national team and Crystal Palace star Daichi Kamada is a big fan.

After an initally shy introduction to the national team fold, Kamada and Maeda’s bromance has blossomed, with the Celtic star often going the extra mile for his Crystal Palace pal. Kamada wouldn’t want to come up against him in a match due to his running ability but he’s thrilled to call him a friend.

“We have a brilliant relationship on and off the pitch. We sit together on the bus, we eat dinner, lunch, and breakfast together. We always go to the sauna together.

“He even fetches me sweets and coffee even when I haven’t asked for them! Daizen is the type of person that everyone loves. I remember when he first came into the Japan team and he wasn’t really interacting with anyone.
