Stoke City are battling Championship rivals Hull City for Australian sensation Thomas Waddingham, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old striker has been earning rave reviews for A-League side Brisbane Roar, scoring seven goals in 18 league starts last season.

Stoke and Hull have registered their interest in a deal to sign him before the 31st August transfer cut-off

Waddingham holds the record of being the youngest goalscorer in the Australian Cup final after netting in the 2023 final, and his potential has alerted several clubs across Europe.

The teenager offers versatility as he is capable of being a striker as well as playing on the left wing or in an attacking midfield role.

Waddingham also broke into the Australian international setup by appearing for the Under-20s and Under-23s teams.

Proving himself as a goalscorer at such a young age has pushed teams to showcase interest in the forward.

Those qualities are beneficial to any Championship club, even though Waddingham has no experience playing in England.
