Newcastle United now make new further improved offer for Marc Guehi - BBC Sport

Newcastle United submit FOURTH offer for Marc Guehi as Magpies keep pushing for England star.

The Magpies are continuing talks with Crystal Palace over England defender Guehi.

Newcastle United have submitted a FOURTH offer for Marc Guehi as they look to clinch the signing of the England international.

It is understood that United are now waiting to hear back from Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish after offering a package of £65million for his services plus possible add ons. Palace have dismissed the previous few offers despite Newcastle’s last deal being worth up to £65m.

Chronicle Live understands that while Guehi has been respectful to Palace and said all the right things internally, he is ambitious and would not turn down the chance to become a marquee signing for Newcastle. With Dan Burn and Jamaal Lascelles now coming down to the last 12 months of their contracts, a new centre-back is high on the agenda.

Guehi has said: “I’m aware still a little bit of the attention. But it is not something I am looking into if that make any sense. I am still in my corner. All you can control is the controllables. I can’t control anything else going on outside or any exterior noise, I can only focus on my football and giving my best at any given moment.”

Guehi’s chairman Steve Parish has left the door ajar to Newcastle to bid up, and said this week: “There’s a price and a situation where we might consider it.

“Realistically, homegrown, 24 years old, sensational talent, somebody has to make it difficult for us. At the moment it isn’t. He’ll still be at Crystal Palace at the moment, but it’s not impossible. He is certainly not making anybody’s life difficult, his agents are decent people. It’s a very good situation. Whether he is here or not will make no difference to how he performs.”
