Leeds United now want ‘exciting’ Premier League left-back after Norwich City have bid rejected.

Sam Byram is able to play on both sides, while new signing Jayden Bogle will be first choice on the right and Junior Firpo on the left. Given Byram is right-footed, it is likely Leeds will look to sign a new left-back.

There have been a few players linked with Leeds so far including PEC Zwolle’s Spain-born Ireland U21 left-back Anselmo MacNulty. But another option is now emerging in an “exciting” left-back at Wolves.

Leeds United eye Wolves left-back Hugo Bueno on loan
Founder of Talking Wolves podcast Dave Azzopardi claims on X that Leeds are keen on a deal to sign Wolves’ 21-year-old left-back Hugo Bueno. The defender has spent the last five years at Wolves.

Azzopardi said that a deal would be a loan without an option: “Leeds United are the latest club showing an interest in Wolves’ Hugo Bueno. Celtic and Feyenoord still keen. Would be a straight loan, no option.”

Bueno was a regular in Wolves’ starring line-up last season, clocking up 25 senior appearances under Gary O’Neil. But he is not deemed a key player and Leeds are looking to take advantage of that this summer.

Leeds are not the only club interest in signing Wolves ace Bueno
The left-back has also caught the attention of other clubs around Europe and in England. As Azzopardi reports, Celtic want to take him north of the border as they look to secure another Premiership title.

Another is Arne Slot’s old side Feyenoord, while Leeds’ play-off semi-final opponents Norwich City are said to have seen a loan bid rejected at the end of July, according to a report from website TeamTalk.

It will be interesting to see if Leeds can tempt Wolves into letting Bueno go out on loan to Elland Road having already rejected a move from Norwich. The chances are, Wolves may want a replacement first.

The latest player to be linked with a move to Leeds United is Norwich City gem Jonathan Rowe, and he is a player that has already underlined how much he loves Elland Road.

With Crysencio Summerville gone, Leeds now sit in a position where they need a few signings before the end of the window. They also have the money to do it, having raked in more than £80m in player sales.

Summerville’s exit of an initial £25m, along with Archie Gray’s £40m move to Tottenham and others take the fee well beyond £80m. Charlie Cresswell, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente and Kris Klaesson have gone, too.

A full-back needs to be signed and Leeds have been linked with a move for Hugo Bueno at Wolves. A midfielder is also expected to arrive to replace Glen Kamara, one that can score goals from the middle.
