Leicester City transfer news from LeicestershireLive as Steve Coopper continues to work towards strengthening his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Leicester City boss Steve Cooper is keen to bolster his squad ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League.

The Foxes have welcomed four players already this summer with Abdul Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, Michael Golding, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid arriving at the King Power Stadium. However, midfielder stalwart Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall departed for Chelsea earlier in the window leaving a gap in the midfield for the new manager who admit the need for new additions before the season gets underway.

“We know where we want to strengthen, we know where we want to improve. If we can improve a starter in the team, we’ll do that, and we know we need to strengthen the competition in some places as well,” said Cooper.

“The step into the Premier League is a huge one. The guys who have been there before, including myself, we need to remind ourselves what’s coming. For the guys going up for the first time, we’re really trying to prepare them for how it feels.

“We’ll be working hard on the pitch. We’ll be working hard off the pitch to try to bring players in. Hopefully we’ll continue to improve and progress and be ready for that first game.”

Here we take a look at who has been linked with the club and linked with a move away with just two weeks before the new campaign gets underway.

City’s Tom Cannon looks to be staying with the Foxes for the opening couple of weeks of the season while Jamie Vardy recovers from injury.

The 37-year-old striker could miss the first fortnight of the new Premier League campaign which, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, is preventing manager Steve Cooper from loaning out the 21-year-old Ireland front man who, it is claimed, is wanted by three Championship clubs.

Vardy has played less than an hour of football so far this summer after picking up a knock in City’s pre-season opener against Villarreal. That leaves Cannon as one of only a couple of fit hit men, with the report claiming Sheffield United, West Brom and Norwich are all keen to take Cannon on a season-long loan, but they may now have to wait until the end of the window to see if Cannon comes on to the market.

Yvon Mvogo

City are said to have expressed interest in the Switzerland international. French outlet L’Equipe reported that both AFC Bournemouth and Leicester City are front-runners to acquire the ‘keeper’s signature this summer. He currently has a year left on his contract at Ligue 1 outfit Lorient with the club seemingly willing to sell.

Jordan Ayew

Leicester City are still waiting to hear if Crystal Palace are willing to sanction a transfer for striker Jordan Ayew.

News of Foxes’ apparent interest in the veteran striker emerged last weekend, and now the London Standard are saying Palace are open to letting Ayew leave if an attractive enough offer is made during the current transfer window.

The 32-year-old joined Palace from Swansea City in 2019 and has been a regular for nearly all of his spell in south London, playing at least 30 Premier League matches a season over the past five years. In that time, he has scored 23 goals in 211 appearances.

He is currently with Palace on a pre-season tour of the USA, and the Standard report adds: “Leicester have approached Palace about Ayew’s availability and the Eagles will decide in the coming days whether the move is one they are willing to sanction.”
