West Ham backed to agree ‘£50m’ Ivan Toney deal after source’s reveal – expert.

West Ham have been backed to sign Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney before the 31st August cut-off.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers striker Frank McAvennie admitted he’d “bite their hand off” if they could sign him for £50million.

It was recently reported that the Bees are willing to cut Toney’s asking price by more than £30million as he enters the final year of his contract.

That means the 28-year-old striker would be available for £50million, which has sparked interest from West Ham.

The striker scored four goals in 17 games after returning from his gambling ban and went on to participate in the 2024 Euros.

Even though Toney is now available for less money, the Hammers will face competition to try and sign him.

Toney told his friends that he was to join Man United during this transfer window.

“If they can get him for £50million I’d bite their hand off them,” McAvennie told Football Insider.

“£50million for him and £30million for [N’Golo] Kante, we don’t need to buy anybody else, that’ll do.

“Antonio’s 36, Ivan Toney would be great for West Ham.

“I wanted [Ollie] Watkins at West Ham; he was just outstanding.

“For that kind of money, I hope they don’t let Ivan Toney go to somebody else.

“Go and get him, just go and get him.

West Ham

“What a player Ivan Toney is; he’s a danger man, he puts himself about, he holds the ball up; he’s everything that you want.

“He can play upfront on his own, he can play with somebody beside him, he’s my kind of striker.”
