Dlamini pens pro deal

Young Rovers attacker Nathan Dlamini has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-year pro deal through to June 2026.

An exciting dribbler, who looks to make things happen in the final third, Dlamini joined Rovers from Aston Villa last summer as a first year scholar.

He scored two goals in 18 league appearances for Rovers Under-18s last season and now hopes to make the step up to the Under-21s in the forthcoming campaign.

“It’s a great day and a dream come true,” said the talented teenager, after signing his new deal at Ewood Park.

“It’s something I’ve always dreamt of and all these years of hard work have paid off, but it’s just the beginning and hopefully I can get bigger contracts in the future and just keep going.

“It’s a good feeling signing your first pro, so it’s up to me to keep working towards the next one.

“Before coming here, I heard that the pathway was good for young players, so I thought this was the best place for my development and somewhere where I can really push on and get chances with older age groups.

“It’s been good so far and I’m looking forward to the next two years here.

“Having experienced a year here now, I’m definitely ready to kick on. This season I really want to push for everything – the Under-21s and maybe the first team. I feel like I can do it, but I just need to work hard.

“My big aim is to cement my place in the Under-21s this season. I’ve trained with them and I know what the standard is like, but I think I can get there. It’s now just about getting into the starting XI and maintaining my spot.

“If I work hard and give my all, then I know that I’ll get rewarded for it. It’s just about getting noticed and getting a chance, then it’s up to me to take it.”
