Luton Town will be aiming for an immediate return to the Premier League following their disappointing relegation from the division in 2023-24.

A big part of achieving this goal will be how they utilise the transfer window and so far they have been busy with a number of deals both ways.

Despite this, the Hatters still have a lot of business to be concluded before the window shuts on August 31st, and you doubt that Rob Edwards is content with his current squad.

Having just been relegated from the top tier, they likely still have enough pulling power to attract some Premier League talent. Whether it’s ageing players seeking more game time or young stars emerging on the scene, Kenilworth Road could be the perfect destination.

With this in mind, at Football League World we have detailed four Premier League stars Luton could realistically sign this summer.

Jaidon Anthony

Jaidon Anthony spent last season on loan at Leeds United from AFC Bournemouth but was never able to earn himself a starting spot due to the form of the Whites’ other forwards.

Returning to the Vitality this summer, it once again seems unlikely that he will be in line for a prominent role under Andoni Iraola. For this reason, he may be searching for a move away and Luton should strike, either looking for a loan or a permanent deal.

His success in the division in 2021-22, when he earned promotion with Bournemouth, could be invaluable to Rob Edwards. Additionally, he will offer a unique dimension, addressing a gap in the Hatters’ current squad where they lack a direct attacking winger who can score goals.

With another wide target, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi subject to Premier League interest, it would seem a sensible move for Luton to change direction and target a player whose stock will have dropped based on last season.

Another winger that Luton should be targeting this summer is Manchester City’s Micah Hamilton. At 20-years-old, he is unproven, but he has already displayed his ability in limited appearances for City, scoring and assisting on his debut against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Last January, Luton’s rivals Watford had a loan bid rejected for Hamilton, with Pep Guardiola looking to keep the youngster. However, this term may prove different and first-team experience under a head coach like Edwards, would prove useful for the 20-year-old.

With Hamilton on a minimal wage and Manchester City likely covering his salary, this deal represents a low-risk, high-reward opportunity for the Hatters. If he joins, you could easily see him becoming a standout star in the Championship, making a significant impact on Luton’s season.

Jamie Donley

Luton’s forwards have been heavily linked with a move away from Kenilworth Road, with Elijah Adebayo being targeted by Everton and Watford chasing 21-year-old Joe Taylor. If either of these two move on, then the Hatters should make an effort to sign Tottenham’s Jamie Donley.

The 19-year-old would fit perfectly into Edwards’ system as he could feature just behind Carlton Morris, whose hold-up play has been stellar for Luton in recent years.

Donley’s goal contribution record speaks for itself, netting 38 and providing 32 assists in 94 fixtures for Spurs’ youth setup. Last season was a particular step-up on these levels, with a ridiculous tally showing his marked improvement.
