Leicester City ‘increasingly close’ to big-money transfer but conflicting rumours swirl.
Matias Soule is a target for City and Roma, with reports from Italy suggesting Juventus would prefer to sell the Argentinian abroad than strengthen one of their rivals.
Rumours around Matias Soule and a transfer to Leicester City continue to swirl with conflicting reports coming out of Italy on the Juventus forward’s next club.
City and Roma appear to be the frontrunners for the Argentinian, who caught the eye last season with an excellent campaign on loan at relegated Serie A side Frosinone. But which of the clubs he will be heading to is up for debate.
In Gazzetta dello Sport, it’s said Soule is “increasingly close to Leicester”, paving the way for Juventus to target Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi or Porto’s Francisco Conceicao as his replacement. In a separate report in the same paper, it’s said Soule’s farewell is the “most imminent” of the wingers Juventus could sell, but that’s only if City return with an offer that exceeds €30m (£25.8m).

While there have been reports in the past that suggested Soule was happy to join City and link up with Caleb Okoli, the pair team-mates at Frosinone last season, Corriere dello Sport report that the 21-year-old would prefer to join Roma. They also say that may not be possible.
The report states Juventus would prefer to sell abroad than strengthen one of their Serie A rivals. They know Soule is a very talented player, and are only selling him because of the profit he can generate, having joined for just €120k, rather than because they don’t feel he is up to standard.
They go on to agree with the €30m price-tag, saying City have so far offered €25m plus bonuses. That was apparently rejected, but with Juventus open to negotiations.
But in Corriere della Sera, it’s reported that Soule has agreed to join Roma and that a deal between the two Serie A clubs is possible. In fact they believe it can be done for the €25m that City have supposedly already offered. It’s a saga that looks like running for a little while yet.
