Coventry City clear up Adi Viveash replacement question.
Coventry City news from CoventryLive as the search is on for a new senior coach to come in to help assist Mark Robins following the sudden departure of Adi Viveash.
Coventry City have advertised for a new Head of First Team Coaching – a move that clearly answers the question as to whether Adi Viveash is to be replaced.
The former assistant manager and first team coach left the Sky Blues abruptly earlier this month when the shock announcement was made on the first day of pre-season training that: “Coventry City can confirm that, following a post season review, it has decided to revamp its coaching structure, with assistant manager Adi Viveash today leaving the club.”
Five minutes later the club unveiled two new first team coaches in former City star George Boateng along with Rhys Carr from Wolves. It was unclear at that stage whether the pair were direct replacements for former coach Dennis Lawrence, who moved to Minnesota United as assistant in April, or one had come in to take on Viveash’s duties.

It’s clear, however, that Boateng and Carr have increased City’s backroom in place of Lawrence, and the club are now on the hunt for a more senior coach to assist manager Mark Robins.
Amongst the requirements for the job are holding a UEFA Pro Licence, experience of first team coaching in a professional football environment and experience & able to evidence elite player development while having strong and adaptable interpersonal skills.
The club today said: “ Coventry City Football Club is re-organising the structure of the first team coaching department, and has a vacancy for the newly-formed role of Head of First Team Coaching.
“The Head of First Team Coaching will be an experienced coach that works closely with the manager and the coaching team to deliver the most impactful development and support to our players.
“The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring alignment of our playing philsophy and game-planning with the coaching and development of our players.
“The successful candidate will need to have flexibility to priortise their work with the team, and provide consistent and responsive leadership and coaching support, including in-person at all first team home and away fixtures, with daily attendance at training.”
The responsibilities of the role are further stated as:
*Assist the first team manager in leading & coaching the team
*Support the first team manager in setting season-long, competition-specific and game-specific objectives (in collaboration with the football department)
*Assist the first team manager with game planning
*Lead the delivery of each game plan
Playing style & coaching
*Lead all first team training sessions, and work collaboratively with the coaching team to deliver them in conjunction with the first team manager, lead the design of performance strategies/game plans in line with the Club’s playing philosophy
*Lead the planning, preparation and evaluation of coaching sessions that develop the team as a whole in line with this philosophy
