Buffalo Bills v New York Jets

Buffalo Bills division rival placed on laughable list heading into 2024.

Bills fans will be happy to see this.

For what seems like the longest time, the New York Jets have been a laughing stock in the NFL. The franchise is a disaster and they can never seem to get anything right, no matter how hard they try. They may have their glory for a quick second or two, but in the end, we see the same story play out. Since 2021, the Jets have been trying to get it right with head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas. The duo has some right choices as well as wrong choices (like every other organization), but they have the most pressure out of any duo in the NFL next season.

When the Jets decided to trade for Aaron Rodgers last offseason, they were hoping to not only go into a win-now mode, but even potentially help the development of Zach Wilson who had heavily struggled in his young career. There were fans and analysts who were predicting that the Jets were Super Bowl favorites with Rodgers. On paper, there is an argument but that means nothing once game time comes.

We all know what happened with Rodgers’ first season last year with the torn achilles. There was some speculation that Rodgers may not have come back because at the end of the day, he was coming off a major injury at his age. Rodgers is set to come back for the Jets and the front office is putting all their eggs in the basket in hopes that this pairing will work.

Brad Gagnon from Bleacher Report released a piece on five big regrets that teams could have this offseason and to no surprise, the Jets are on this list. Gagnon listed that the Jets could regret going all in with Rodgers for a second time.

The Jets don’t have a successor to Rodgers since they traded Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos. As it stands, the two quarterbacks that will dress on game days this year are Rodgers and former Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor. It has been awhile since we have seen Rodgers compete at a high level that we once saw. Even though he can still sling it, he is not the same dynamic quarterback he once was. Adding that to a recovery from a major injury will make it even more difficult for him and the Jets.

Say what you want about the Bills, but the Jets have a lot more to lose this year than Buffalo.
