Josh Pate Makes His Thoughts Extremely Clear on Alabama’s Head Coaching Transition.
The Alabama Crimson Tide football program has been the standard bearer of college football for the better part of the last 15 seasons. Much of its success is due in large part to former coach Nick Saban.
Saban’s dynasty was unlike anything Alabama faithful had ever seen, and certainly unlike anything elsewhere. The Crimson Tide won six national titles over Nick Saban’s dominant reign over college football.
Duplicating Saban’s success will not be a easy task, but one analyst suggests new Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer is walking into a great situation. Josh Pate shared his thoughts on “The Late Kick with Josh Pate.”
“Nick Saban, a legend, hits the exit door, and then all the sudden a lot of casuals say, ‘no one wants to take over for a legend.’ … If the legend leaves behind immaculate facilities and a top-notch infrastructure, take over for the legend.”
Pate discussed the on-field success and talent acquisition the team has put together over recent years. He doesn’t expect Alabama will drop off dramatically in either category under DeBoer.
The college football voice shared his expectations for DeBoer’s transition.
“You may be looking at one of the most high-level handoffs of the baton in the history of this sport, from one icon to another guy whose best chapters of his career may be made in Tuscaloosa.”
The Crimson Tide kicks off against Western Kentucky on Aug. 31.
