Arthur Melo - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

Agent of £52k-a-week Everton target has now confirmed that ‘he will leave’ this summer as he join Toffees

This summer has already been a busy one for Everton, acting with intelligence and speed to tie up their business early on whilst also circumventing financial restrictions.

It is Everton’s efforts to find PSR loopholes in particular that has drawn praise from the fanbase, yet left the Premier League desperately scrambling for a solution to plug this gap.

However, before that occurs, there is now a suggestion that another shrewd deal could be made.

After all, despite their newfound adversity to signing older, less reliable players, this offer could be too good for Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell to refuse.

Despite Everton having been linked with Arthur Melo already this summer, the latest on his future comes courtesy of Fabrizio Romano, and does not explicitly tie the Toffees to his future.

However, with rumours having persisted, they will have seen their ears prick up when the agent of the former Barcelona superstar, Federico Pastorello, revealed all about his future.

He reportedly claimed: ‘We are talking to several clubs about Arthur as he will leave Juventus, they don’t count on him.’

Given the calibre of player Melo is, a list of suitors is expected, although an ill-fated loan spell with Liverpool, where he simply could not stay fit, has likely seen his stock irreversibly damaged.

Kevin Thelwell must be careful in the transfer market

As tempting an offer it may seem, to try and pry a Brazilian midfield magician from a European giant would only be a recipe for disaster for Everton.

After all, time and time again have they opted for the Hollywood name rather than the safer, more intelligent option, and now their financial position tells a torrid story.

The £52k-a-week star would almost certainly fall into that long line of failed acquisitions, and just when Thelwell seems to be making great strides towards a newer, more sustainable club free from such foolish investments.

That’s not to suggest that Melo will not succeed elsewhere, as he showed last campaign that his talent remained whilst on loan with Fiorentina.

However, it is simply a risk the Toffees cannot afford to make anymore, and therefore Thelwell must turn it down.

Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are now intensifying talks over a move for an Everton transfer target who is reportedly keen on moving to Goodison Park.

Everton news: Iliman Ndiaye talks progress as Toffees bid to sign Marseille striker - BBC Sport

Rumour is certainly rife on the blue side of Merseyside with the Toffees reportedly eyeing several deals, both in and out of the club.

Long-term target Iliman Ndiaye is reportedly closing in on his move to Goodison Park and will provide Sean Dyche with much-needed striker cover should Dominic Calvert-Lewin depart.

The Englishman has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United – and some pundits have suggested the Toffees should be looking to sell.

Another incoming is also related to Newcastle, and Everton could have just been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Yankuba Minteh.
