Chelsea submit offer for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as Omari Hutchinson closes in on club-record move to Southampton
Chelsea have made an offer for Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The 25-year-old worked with new Blues boss Enzo Maresca at the King Power Stadium last season in what was a promotion-winning campaign for the Foxes.
Dewsbury-Hall was a key figure under Maresca last season and is also thought to have attracted interest from Brighton, though Chelsea have now made their move. No deal has yet been struck as talks continue.
Decision makers at Stamford Bridge are believed to have been impressed by the midfielder’s development, with the player himself open to the move to Stamford Bridge.
Leeds youngster Archie Gray has also been considered by the London giants, with both the Elland Road club and the Foxes needing to make sales this summer.
Selling academy graduates represent ‘pure profit’ in the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) framework, making it an attractive strategy for clubs looking to stay on track with financial rules.
Standard Sport also understands newly-promoted Ipswich Town have agreed a club-record £22.5m deal to sign Blues forward Omari Hutchinson.
The 20-year-old excelled on loan at Portman Road last season and was influential in helping them win promotion from the Championship.
Stuttgart had been interested in the Jamaican international but the Suffolk club had always been frontrunners.
Chelsea are also set to conclude the £17m signing of Boca Juniors centre-back, Aaron Anselmino.
The 19-year-old is expected to sign a six-year deal with the Blues before potentially joining sister club Strasbourg on loan.
Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu of Aston Villa and Barcelona respectively are also set to join Chelsea as the club continue their commitment to signing young players.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues have already submitted an offer to sign the English midfielder in the summer transfer window. And they want to seal the deal in a part-exchange arrangement, with David Datro Fofana and Cesare Casadei under discussion.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has established himself as a pivotal figure for Leicester City since becoming a regular in the first-team squad. A native of Nottingham, he began his youth career at Shepshed Warriors before joining Leicester City. The Englishman progressed through the ranks at the Midlands club before making his first-team bow in January 2020.
However, Dewsbury-Hall had to wait until August 2021 to debut in the Premier League. Since then, he has been a mainstay in the middle of the park, going from strength to strength in the last three years. However, the 25-year-old reached the peak of his powers in the 2023/24 campaign.
The English midfielder contributed to 27 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 12 times and providing 15 assists. Dewsbury-Hall’s exploits helped Leicester City return to the Premier League. However, his 18-year association with the Foxes, with Chelsea recently joining the race to sign him.
