PATRIOTS SIGN RB RHAMONDRE STEVENSON TO A 4-YEAR, $36 MILLION EXTENSION

The New England Patriots have locked their starting running back, Rhamondre Stevenson, to a long-term extension. According to NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport, the agreement is for four years and worth $36 million.

Stevenson, who was entering the final year of his rookie deal, will get $17 million in guaranteed money. Additionally, he will be able to get up to $12 million in incentives if he reaches 1,400 yards from scrimmage and makes either the All-Pro or Pro Bowl.

Stevenson had his breakout year in 2022 when he rushed for 1,040 yards and five touchdowns while adding 69 receptions for 421 receiving yards and one TD despite playing most of the season as a backup.

In 2023, a series of injuries limited Stevenson to just 12 games and 619 rushing yards. However, the new Patriots’ brass, fronted by head coach Jerod Mayo and president of player personnel Eliot Wolf, believe that Stevenson remains a perfect player for their offense, and the extension demonstrates that.

Stevenson is the latest Pats player to get extended in recent months. The franchise made it a priority to keep talented players on the roster this offseason and handed new deals to the likes of linebacker Joshua Uche, tight end Hunter Henry, and safety Kyle Dugger, among others.
