4-star CB Andrew Purcell chooses Kentucky
The talented DB from Alabama holds offers from Georgia, Florida, and Ole Miss.
The Kentucky Wildcats have picked up another big football commitment for the class of 2025 in 4-star cornerback Andrew Purcell from Alabama.
Purcell announced his commitment Monday morning following an official visit to Lexington over the weekend.
Kentucky just scored a pledge from 4-star recruit Ja’kayden Ferguson, who also visited this weekend. Safe to say that was a productive few days for Mark Stoops and Co.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback from Enterprise High picked Kentucky over Miami and Georgia. He had recently visited both Georgia and Miami before making a trip to Lexington, which sealed the deal in his recruitment.
“I like everything about Kentucky,” Purcell told On3. “The culture, the people, and the coaching staff. Those were big reasons why I committed to Kentucky.”
Defensive Backs coach Chris Collins served as the primary recruiter for Purcell, a versatile defensive back who can play as an outside corner or at the nickel.
Purcell is ranked as the 35th-best cornerback nationally by Rivals, who gave him a 4-star rating. He’s the 16th-best player from football-rich Alabama and held additional offers from Clemson, Florida, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Tennessee.
Purcell becomes the ninth commitment in the 2025 class for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats and the second defensive back joining safety Martels Carter.
This is certainly another big win for the Kentucky coaching staff on the recruiting trail.
