Ipswich Town twist emerges in Rangers pursuit of in West Ham United defender Ben Johnson

Ipswich Town have joined Rangers, Crystal Palace and Leeds United in the race to sign West Ham defender Ben Johnson, according to HITC.

The news outlet reported on 24 June that the Hammers are trying hard to retain the 24-year-old’s services with a new contract offer as his deal is running out at the end of June

Gers are understood to have had talks with him and despite his recent injury issues, are keen on securing his services.

Rangers may find it hard to secure the transfer of Ben Johnson

The competition for Johnson’s signature is fierce, with multiple clubs from the Premier League and Championship interested in him.

Given the fact that he’s been in England his whole career and there are top-flight sides showing an interest, he may be tempted to stay.

This could also drive up his price and make it difficult for Gers to match the financial offers from these clubs.

The 24-year-old would also be seeking a significant wage hike, which could be a stumbling block for Rangers.
