MADISON, Miss. (WLBT) – On Friday, Madison Central senior tight end Micah Jones announced his commitment to the Florida Gators.

Jones, a three-star tight end who will be graduating in December, said the factors that led to his decision were the coaches’ relationships with the players, player development, school culture, and how well they use the tight end.

“When you get to the college visits, you always get that feeling, and I kind of got that feeling at Florida every single time I went up there,” Jones said. “The hype is real about the Swamp, man. Florida is a really nice place, and I think [head] coach [Billy] Napier has them on the upbringing. I think they’ll be National Championship contenders in the next couple years, and I think I can help with that.”

The high school football season starts in two months, and with his commitment, there’s one less thing to worry about for his senior year.

“It takes a lot of pressure off,” he said. “Now I can focus on trying to win the State Championship this year, and I think we’ve got the team to do it.”

Jones and the Jaguars start their season on Aug. 30, with a road game at Ocean Springs.
