Five-star wing Will Riley commits to Illinois over Arizona, Kentucky, Alabama and the pro route
Despite being a late addition to the recruitment, Illinois snags five-star wing Will Riley.
Will Riley, the No. 9 overall recruit in the 2025 class, has committed to Illinois, he announced on Sunday.
The five-star recruit made his decision official during a ceremony live from Waterloo, Ontario picking the Illini over Alabama, Arizona, Kentucky and the New Zealand Breakers.
Following the hire of former Kentucky assistant Orlando Antigua, Illinois was able to become a late addition to the Riley sweepstakes that resulted in an official visit not long after.
When Riley scheduled the visit, Illinois was expected to be a bit of a longshot in the recruitment but Brad Underwood was able to flip the recruitment on its head during Riley’s time on campus.
Riley is highly talented wing standing nearly 6-foot-8 with guard skills able to create scoring opportunities for himself and others.
The Canadian has been one of the biggest risers playing for UPlay Canada this spring by showcasing his versatility, skillset and high upside as he continues to get stronger and physically mature.
Riley is the highest ranked recruit to commit to Illinois in the modern recruiting service era.
Riley is the second commitment for Brad Underwood in the 2025 class joining four-star guard Jeremiah Fears.
Riley still has the option to reclassify to 2024 and enroll for the 2024-25 season and will be something to continue monitoring for the remainder of the summer.
