Newcastle in advanced talks to sign Calvert-Lewin as price revealed with the ace keen to Join
Newcastle United are in advanced talks to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, sources have told Football Insider.
Further negotiations are set to take place on Sunday and a deal could be agreed between the two Premier League clubs in the next few days.
Sources say Everton are holding out for a fee in excess of £25million despite the England international’s contract expiring in June 2025.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month the Merseyside giants had opened talks with Calvert-Lewin over a new contract at Goodison Park.
But talks have now stalled between the two parties and the 27-year-old is believed to be keen on a move to Newcastle this summer.
Newcastle could sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin after Everton PSR issues
Calvert-Lewin endured a difficult season with Everton after going 23 games without scoring before finding the back of the net against Newcastle in April.
The forward has faced numerous injury problems over the past few years, but he managed to start in 32 of his 38 appearances last season, registering eight goals and three assists.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month Everton were at risk of losing Calvert-Lewin due to their financial concerns.
Sean Dyche’s side are believed to be close to the profit and sustainability (PSR) limit again, with Football Insider revealing last month they will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before submitting their accounts at the end of June.
Newcastle are now in advanced talks over a deal to sign Calvert-Lewin, but the Merseysiders are holding out for more than £25million to sanction an exit.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider last month the striker would be the “perfect” signing for the north-east giants as they look to improve their attacking options this summer.
In other news, England defender responds to Newcastle approach.
To some of the people who are against Eddie Howe and Newcastle United making a move for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, what I will say 1984 Frankie style is, “Relax, don’t slate it, If Dom’s gonna Come.”
The part-time catwalk king and silver screen wannabe might not be going to Hollywood just yet, however, I definitely think his next port of call will be Newcastle United.
That’s because Eddie Howe knows a good player when he sees one and on his day, Dominic Calvert-Lewin can be absolutely immense.
He has a physical presence up front that would be unique within the current Newcastle set-up but I understand the natural concerns about his fitness.
