Previewing the biggest recruiting weekend of Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama Tenure
The Alabama Football team has dominated the Summer as every recruiting weekend is ending with commitments for Kalen DeBoer. Fresh off of landing Jackson Lloyd and London Simmons, the Tide is set to host one of the most star-studded groups anyone has hosted all Summer.
Alabama Football is set to host multiple five-stars with the chance of closing out multiple recruitments before the dead period starts on June 25th.
A Chance to Land Kalen DeBoer’s First Five-Star
The biggest priority on campus this weekend will be five-star cornerback Dijon Lee as he takes his final official visit before announcing his commitment on June 28th. The California native was seemingly between Georgia and Alabama but, the Tide look like the massive front runner as Kalen DeBoer looks to close out his first five-star recruit. Lee is ranked as the 30th-ranked player in the class and the 5th-ranked cornerback.
The new coaching staff has done an excellent job landing recruits from California bringing in Abduall Sanders, Chuck McDonald, Jackson Lloyd, and Alex Asparuhov which puts the Tide in a great spot with landing Lee.
Crimson Tide potential benefactors of USC loss?
This week has been tough for the USC Trojans as they lost commitments from two five-star defenders, causing their class to plummet outside of the top-ten. Justus Terry was one of the players to decommit and along with reopening his recruitment he canceled his visit to USC this weekend and will instead travel to Tuscaloosa.
Terry is a consensus five-star recruit ranked by On3 as the tenth-best player in the class and the second-ranked defensive lineman. This recruitment can very quickly become a battle between Kalen DeBoer and Freddie Roach against Kirby Smart and Tray Scott making this weekend’s visit very important.
The Second Five-Star Receiver This Week Comes to Campus
The Tide started this week off hosting five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett on an official visit thanks in part to Keelon Russell’s commitment. This weekend, Alabama Football will get an official visit from consensus top-3 wide receiver recruit Caleb Cunningham who On3 ranks as the 15th-best player in the class. The battle for Cunningham is dominated by SEC schools, as both in-state Mississippi schools look like front runners while Alabama and Auburn look to make up ground. The momentum the Tide have picked up with fellow Mississippi native Akylin Dear may help the Tide but, landing Cunningham is an uphill battle.
Two Elite In-State Recruits visit, can Tide flip the momentum?
This weekend, the Tide will host two in-state recruits edge rusher Jakaleb Faulk and offensive lineman Micah DeBose. Faulk has been an Auburn commit for nearly a year but, the Tide will get On3’s 21st-ranked edge rusher on campus to push for a commitment flip.
