What Sean Dyche would really love to do with Everton's style of play when time comes to change - Liverpool Echo

Everton table offer to sign Manchester City defender in brand new transfer deal

Everton have made an offer to sign Manchester City defender Issa Kabore this summer, according to AfricaFoot.

Writing on their website (19 June), the news outlet reports that the Toffees have made a bid to sign the Burkina Faso international permanently after his loan spell at Luton in 2023/24, where he made 24 appearances in the Premier League.

The player is open to the move as he knows his chances of breaking into the City first-team are slim, and Sean Dyche’s side have made an offer worth £10.9m to beat Ajax to his signature and seal a deal quickly.

Everton want to sign Issa Kabore

OM : Issa Kaboré pourrait rester à une condition

On paper, it seems like a bit of an odd transfer for Everton, because right-back is hardly a position that they’re lacking in options at.

Seamus Coleman recently signed a new contract while Ashley Young has confirmed he is close to doing the same. Nathan Patterson and Ben Godfrey have also played there during the most recent campaign, meaning they are stacked for options.

But the reality is that Patterson could move on for more regular football after his spat with Dyche in Portugal, and Godfrey is entering the final 12 months of his deal and could move on too.

Relying on two players who are way past their prime for the entire season would be a huge risk and that then makes the Kabore move much more sensible, so it’s certainly one to watch.

The club are targeting younger players with sell-on value and Kabore fits that criteria, so the Blues could be about to welcome a new right-back into their squad.

In other Everton news, one player is en route to Finch Farm for a medical ahead of a transfer.

The newspaper reported via its online edition on 20 June that Sean Dyche is keen on adding to his midfield with Andre Gomes leaving and Dele Alli’s future hanging in the balance.

The 28-year-old England international knows that his future lies away from the Etihad Stadium and will be on his way out this summer.

Everton must not sign Kalvin Phillips due to his recent injury woes

Their interest in signing Phillips from Manchester City is understandable given their need to bolster their midfield options.

The 28-year-old is a talented player with a proven track record in the Premier League and his experience and quality could be valuable additions to the Toffees squad.

However, there are significant concerns about Phillips’ recent injury record that should give the club pause before committing to a deal.

Phillips has struggled with a series of injuries in recent seasons, limiting his playing time and preventing him from reaching his full potential.
