Hartfield Academy defensive lineman commits to Alabama football
FLOWOOD, Miss. (WLBT) – A Hartfield Academy football player has announced his commitment to Alabama football.
On Father’s Day, three-star defensive lineman London Simmons announced his commitment to the college football powerhouse.
The Flowood native chose Alabama over offers from Jackson State, LSU, Arkansas, and Florida State, among others.
Simmons was a key member of a Hartfield Hawks defense that helped secure the school’s first-ever state championship win during the 2023 season.
He is set to be a member of the 2025 class in a new era of Alabama football, with Kalen DeBoer becoming the Crimson Tide’s next head football coach following the retirement of Nick Saban.
Lloyd is a three-sport standout, playing basketball and baseball as well for the Padres and that kept him from many spring unofficials, though he took one to Ohio State last month.
He took an official visit to Ohio State last weekend and spent this past weekend at Alabama.
Lloyd is scheduled to trip to USC the final visit weekend in June but depending on where he announces determines if that will still happen.
He has been selected to play in the 2025 All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
