Alabama makes big move for No. 1 prospect in Kentucky during official visit

Javeon Campbell visited Alabama for a spring practice in March and added an offer from Freddie Roach a day later. Official visit plans were confirmed with Bama247 a few days after that and the four-star defensive lineman sure is glad he made it back to campus over the weekend.

Akylin Dear has been committed to Ole Miss since late March, but that hasn’t stopped nearly every other school in the country from recruiting the No. 1 running back in the class. Among the loaded group of coaches hitting up his phone daily is Robert Gillespie with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Before an unexpected commitment to the Rebels, Dear told Bama247 that he would “for sure” get back to Tuscaloosa. A major reason for that was because Gillespie was retained on the Kalen DeBoer staff.

“To tell you the truth if he would have left (Alabama would be out), but since coach G there, that’s my guy,” he told Bama247 in January

The two worked to lock in a weekend for an official visit. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder remains comfortable with his decision, but another visit to The Capstone has Dear thinking.
